Can anything be learned to help us today by studying the Black Plague?

Without studying history we can repeat it. Believe it or not the plague still exists and every so often small rodents in wilderness areas will have the plague. People also contact it every so often, but today we know how to keep it from spreading, the types, and cures. If we look at what is happening with Ebola we can see similar situations and reactions that took place with the plague, but because of science and understanding what happens when large populations of people contact a fast spreading disease the medical field can fight it and save people.
