Why is it that people have to depend on technology?

Technology, in the simplest meaning of the Word, is the use of an object to aid in a task.

The spoon is a technology; so is the wheel. Computers are an electrically dependent technology.

People don't need technology, but it sure makes digging that ditch or communicating to people out of speaking distance vastly easier.
