How do you know a snail is dead?

You'll know that it's dead when you pick up the shell and the snails gone out of the shell. The water is the best thing that shows you your snail is dead. First the water will start out all foggie and goopie, next it will start to smell kind of like fish, then it will turn black, brown and foggie. By that point it will smell HORRIBLE! If you notice all of the first things I said happening with your snails water, get it out of your house right away or else it will smell up the room it's in. And the water your snails in might not be safe to touch so if you don't want to get sick, DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!!!!! if you don't want your snail to die take care of it by making its tank as close as you can get it to look like the place where it came from so it's in its proper habitat. Feed it vegetables (NO CARROTS!), wet paper, wet card board, fish scraps, and leaves. Clean its tank EVERY day and don't put the old food back in. And the reason why my snail died was because i forgot to take care of it and i didn't make it's home like it's REAL home in the lake. The BEST thing to do it keep it in the lake or ocean, where ever you got it, cause it has a home and a family. How would you like it if you got taken away from your home and you were locked in a tiny closet and left to die. That's practically what happens with pet snails.
