Why is gerrymandering bad for democracy?

Because it makes the electoral system unfair. It can give an advantage to one candidate and disadvantage another one. It can do the same for whole sections of society resulting in discrimination. It is an abuse of democracy. Democracy should be fair and equal to all, but gerrymandering disrupts all of that.
