Did Saint Patrick know Saint Brigid?

I really doubt it.

St Brigid was born near Kildare, Louth. c 450 AD and, St Patrick died in 461 AD. There are many legends from that era, some say that St Patrick Baptized her ... but who knows ???

We do know that Brigid did take up her vocation at an early age, but she was only 10 or 11 when St Patrick died.

As my 'sainted' father would to tell me when I was a small boy, "Paddy, you must remember that stories from the Early Celtic Church lived as 'campfire stories' for generations before they were finally written down."

As 'campfire stores,' it's easy to see that they were likely told in a 'Can You Top This?' manner ... with each successive telling getting better and better.
