Why did Zeus' dad swallow his wife kids?

Zeus's dad, Kronos ate his children because he didn't wanted to be over throwed like he did with his father till kronos's wife had hidden zeus in a praire but one day when zues grew him and his mom made a poison drink and when he drank it he threw up his kids one by one.
