Does recycling cause pollution

There is an energy cost for recycling many materials, and some pollution is created by creating the heat generated to melt glass or metal. However the air pollution from recycling is minor compared to the pollution caused by mining new materials.

There is a need to design recycling collection depots properly. Blowing trash must be minimized, oils and fluids must be contained, fire controls must be in place, toxic ,aterials must be segregated, scavenging must be minimized. All these activites can lead to local contamination and pollution problems
