First of all starvation hardly takes place in a day. But irregardless when you stop eating you put your body into starvation mode and after a certain period of time it takes the avoidance of food as a threat and then holds onto your fat for survival mode, which is a slowed down metabolism response. The best thing to do when trying to lose weight so this doesn't happen is to eat the least amount/calorie appropriate amount of the highest value/quality of food possible so your body has the optimum nutrition to run efficiently without concern of weight gain. And a big breakfast is a good way to rev up your metabolism because it keeps you from feeling sluggish which yields low energy levels so you feel less active to exercise and lose weight.
