It depends on the species of crocodile....there are 24 crocodilian species currently recognized and only 7 of them represent a danger to humans. Of those 7 only 2 species are considered actual "man-eaters." But, as a general rule, crocodiles are more aggressive towards humans....at least the larger crocodile species. Saltwater crocodiles and Nile crocodiles are the most obvious examples, but also the mugger crocodile. American alligators are smaller and less likely to attack humans as a source of food. However, non-fatal attacks/bites are common in Florida, but fatalities are very, very rare.
