When entering a doorway does the man or the woman go first?

well it is more polite for the man to hold the door open and let the woman go first. it doesn't really matter but if the man wants to be a gentleman its way more polite, and it also shows respect for the woman. -----

It is polite for the Man to hold Open the Door and let the lady enter first. However I have found that is not possible if the door is a Push type... so in these occassions I would say the man to walk through and hold the door open and allow the lady to enter. I believe that it is still a sign of respect and in a modern society where good manners seem to be fading it happens less and less. A elderly man once he held the door open for a young woman and she snarled at him "you dont have to hold the door open for me just because I am a woman I can do it myself" to which the Elderly Man replied "You may not be a lady but I will always be a Gentleman"
