Where rice originated from?

It is generally thought that the initial domestication of rice in Asia may have in many places along the Ganges Plains below the eastern foothills of the Himalayas, across northern Burma, northern Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, to Southwest and South China. The center of genetic diversity exists around Assam India and Yunnan China.. There are other pinions that put the origin of cultivated rices in China around the Yangtze River.
