What is Characteristic of plastic furniture?

Plastic furniture:

Use of plastic in furniture industry is very common since 1946, when Douglas Simpson and James Donahue created the first plastic chair.

The structure of plastic consists of very large molecular chains 'which are linked together for adherence' known as polymers.

Different types of plastics have different features quality wise. Two types of furniture is used in furniture industry i.e, Thermoplastics and thermosetting polymer.

Thermoplastics can be soften when they are heated because they are made up of two dimensional molecular chains. It bends so easily when heated and becomes brittle and shatters when cooled down. Corrosion may occur due to its weaker structure.

Thermosets or thermosetting polymers are made up of three dimensional molecular structured chains. These chains form stronger bonds and hence comparatively stronger core is provided which makes furniture more dependable. Extreme changes in temperature do not affect the integrity.

Plastics are comparatively less Eco friendly as compare to wood or steel. They are made up of toxic material.But they are used widely because of their light weight structure and high strength of plastic. Also they are very cheap and affordable as compare to wood and steel furniture.
