What happens when you put a plastic bottle of water into the freezer?

The water will turn to Ice. The act of freezing the water causes it to expand in volume. As a result the plastic bottle will swell and deform slightly but it will not burst or break.

When we put a plastic bottle in the freezer it contracts, whereas when we put water it dilates. So while the plastic bottle contracts and the water dilates so the bottle eventually contracts.
