Why do you sometimes accidentally call someone by a different name?

This is called a "slip of the tongue" and usually happens when you are concentrating so hard about what you are going to say next that you forget to tell your brain what to say now! It's very common. You most often hear this from a parent who is so angry that they can't say the right name of the child they're fussing at!
