Is jack from jack and the beanstalk a hero?

Technically, no. There is no protagonist because for characters, we don't have a hero person. Instead theirs the man-eating giant(who has very low morality), a foolish boy who talked to a strange guy and gave him a cow for five beans which turned into the beanstalk, after stealing the artifacts he is a thief which is not very heroic, and then he commits manslaughter when he cuts down the beanstalk and the giant dies. You could say the old man was the hero for saving the kid from his poverty though his ways were a bit unorthodox. Besides, the hero always gets congratulated in the end anyway. And no one did.
