Can mono be spread in simming pools?

Mononucleosis, commonly known as "mono," is primarily spread through saliva, which is why it's often referred to as the "kissing disease." While the virus that causes mono (Epstein-Barr virus) can be present in saliva and potentially contaminate surfaces, the risk of transmission through Swimming Pools is extremely low. The chlorine in pool water effectively kills most viruses and bacteria, making it unlikely for mono to spread in that environment.
