How can you tell difference between 3.0 and 4.0 v6 93 ranger?

For a 1993 Ford Ranger :

I'm not a mechanic / technician , but the way I tell the difference between the

3.0 litre " Vulcan " engine and the 4.0 litre is by where the oil filter is

On the 4.0 litre Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine , the engine oil

filter is on the PASSENGER SIDE of the engine

On the 3.0 litre the engine oil filter is on the DRIVERS SIDE of the engine
