How much money should you save before moving to California?

There are a number of factors which are relevant to your financial needs when moving to California. If you already have friends and/or relatives in California, with whom you will be staying until you are ready to rent your own place, then the financial needs are much less. If you already have a job offer, possibly your new employer is prepared to assist you in getting a place to live. If you just like the idea of living in California but you do not know anyone there or have any job offer, then I would recommend that you save at least $3000 before moving there.
