What does NPDES stand for?

NPDES is an acronym for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.

This is a federal program (generally administered by individual states) that controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into U.S. waters. Groundwater, construction dewatering water and other sources are discharged to the storm drain under this program.
