Christianity brought political and social unity to Western Europe because Europeans had a common social values which they could relate to. The Roman Catholic Church also arranged and positioned themselves to replace the old Roman Empire. Western Europeans during the decline of Rome all wanted to be apart of the Roman Empire or at least the idea of it. As a result, when Europe became Christianized, Europeans were all unified under one religion which was central controlled by the pope.
