Discrimination has a number of deleterious effects on the wider society. First, it fosters the incorrect belief that one group is superior to another. Second, it affects the ability of the group discriminated against to acquire an appropriate education, thereby making it difficult for those persons to get a job that supports them, and housing that is affordable. It also has a side effect of increasing crime, and dependence on government handouts.
