When was the sewing needle invented?

Needles were used for sewing.

They were an important tool used by women, because before the industrial revolution that started in the 1700s, all clothing was sewn by hand, mostly by women. Almost everything made of silk, wool, cotton and other fabrics had to be sewn by hand.

Larger sized needles were used for sewing canvas sails for war and merchant ships. This work was usually done by men.
