This is a common question asked in interviews. They don't expect you to know the exact number, nor do they know the exact number. This is a question asked to see how well you think.

You would calculate it something like this: about 300,000,000 people in the US, 100,000,000 families lets say, about 70% have cars, 70,000,000 lets say, about 5% of the cars are yello, 3,500,000.... ans so on...
