What is inside the throat?

The throat, or pharynx, is a muscular tube that connects the nasal cavity and mouth to the esophagus and larynx. It contains important structures such as the tonsils, which help fight infections, and the epiglottis, which prevents food from entering the windpipe during swallowing. The throat also houses the vocal cords within the larynx, enabling sound production. Additionally, it plays a critical role in both the respiratory and digestive systems.
