What court did Harry Blackmun serve on before he was appointed to the Supreme Court?

Before his appointment to the Supreme Court, Harry Blackmun served on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He was nominated to that position in 1970 by President Richard Nixon. Blackmun had previously worked as a lawyer and a federal judge before ascending to the Supreme Court in 1970.
