What does a teardrop on the left side of your face mean?

It used to be a sign that a gang member had committed his first kill. Now its just a stupid thing peole do because its been glamorized in movies. That's the difference between the mafia and gangs today. At least the mafia wasn't stupid enough to tag themselves with labels of who they were.
