Who is in charge of Taiwan?

Taiwan is governed by the Republic of China (ROC), which has its own political system, democratic elections, and government institutions. The President of Taiwan, currently Tsai Ing-wen, is the head of state and leads the executive branch. While Taiwan operates independently, the People's Republic of China (PRC) considers it a part of its territory and does not recognize its sovereignty.
