How do you start a main engine of a ship?

to start the main engine.

1.Check the sump tank oil level iun normal level.

2.Run the lubricating oil pump to pre-lubricate the moving parts.

3.Check the indicator or test cock in open position.

4.Engage the gear (turn the gear.)

5.Open all necessary valve for water cooling pump.

6.Run the sea water pump.

7.Run the fuel oil tank.

8.Disengage the gear.

9.Open the main air stop valve.

10.blow of the engine.

11.Close the indicator or test cock.

12.Then the main engine is ready for starting.
