What is proscar use for?

Proscar, which contains the active ingredient finasteride, is primarily used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition characterized by an enlarged prostate gland that can cause urinary difficulties in men. It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth. Proscar is also used off-label to treat male pattern baldness by promoting hair regrowth.
