Why didn't Egyptians plow the land during Inundation?

Inundation was when the banks of the river Nile flooded. This caused the soil to be very fertile because of the nutrients the river brought.

The Egyptians did not plow the land during this time, because it was flooded. They plowed the land afterwards.
