How long is the zygotic period?

The zygotic period, also known as the pre-embryonic stage, lasts about two weeks following fertilization. During this time, the fertilized egg (zygote) undergoes a series of cell divisions as it travels down the fallopian tube toward the uterus. By the end of this period, the zygote develops into a blastocyst, which then implants into the uterine lining, marking the beginning of the embryonic stage.
