What is the point of poaching birds?

There is none (anymore.) It used to be that you could poache birds and either bring them home to eat or sell it at a market. Now, you must have a licends so there is not really to much point if you have no licens. Or, some people do it for the cruel pleasure of killing. (as you can se, i am no fan of poaching.)
