Commoners were able to achieve some social mobility by success on the battle field.

Women held substantial power- dominated household, markets,were revered as teachers, preistesses (some), and the founders of lineage

war was infused with religion. all men were expected to be warriors. Everyone conquered became Aztecs and had to abide to Ruler's rules. The Ruler was considered to be a god. Conquered people were forced to provide goods and labor as a tax (tribute system)
