Eighty to 160 years describes the lifespan of durian trees. The southeast Asian native woody plant in question supplies its Durio genus with 30 recognized species whose anecdotal sustainability suggests survival for centuries until blown down in a storm or cut down by loggers. Cultivation tends to trim lifespans back for the only internationally available species, Durio zibethinus (civet [attracting or smelling] spiky [fruit]), to 25 years.
