Distinguish between a species name and a common name?

The species name is in Latin and understood by all sceintists around the world. The common name is usually only used in a local area, like a country, and that common name changes forom country to country. So, in order to understand each other scientists prefer using the species name. Plus, it makes them sound very scientific when they say it, so that gives them a minor thrill.
