What pH level considered basic?

A pH level above 7 is considered basic or alkaline. The scale ranges from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. Solutions with a pH greater than 7, such as soap or baking soda, indicate an excess of hydroxide ions (OH⁻) relative to hydrogen ions (H⁺). The higher the pH, the more basic the solution.
