What do the boys feel about Jack's departure in Lord of the Flies?

Only two of the boys actually comment on Jack's departure, after he storms away from the meeting. Ralph says "He'll come back. When the sun goes down he'll come." While Piggy says, "We can do without Jack Merridew. There's others besides him on this island."
