Edit; The edge of the road, or the gutter, is spelled kerb in Australia. Curb has a different meaning altogether. For example ... "If you wish to live a long and healthy life you should curb your appetite for fatty foods and alcohol." It simply means to be more moderate, not that what-ever it is should be eliminated completely.
