I never have understood how a person could be assigned an actual number. Therefore, I always concluded the number refers to symbolism of sorts. That being said, the ultimate concern is a symbol will be used to certify that a person is sealed with that mark. The Bible talks about Christ having God's seal on him. Well, then it follows Satan will probably have a seal on him. One seal meaning chosen, holy, and from the Father..and the other seal something abominable.

The main point is people will have a choice to wear this anti christ seal as a way of denouncing the gospel. In return, they receive privileges.

I can't imagine the seal actually being 666, because that would be so obvious to many. Instead, I look for the underlying principle, which is a mark of denunciation or refusal of Christ. In which case, there is no remedy.
