How does peter differ from the other apostles?

There is a reason Peter is called the rock of the church. Peter was Jesus's favorite apostale. Except for the one occasion of denying Jesus 3 times, Peter is the most faithful apostale. All the others went on to be bishops (I believe) while Peter became the pope, the representative of Jesus Christ himself.
