It fully oxygenates your blood stream. Disease and viruses cannot live in a oxygen rich environment. It strengthens your heart and cardiovascular system. It forces you to concentrate as well as improve motor skills, hand/eye coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, endurance, speed, and reflexes. Playing sports helps you have more body awareness. It forges a strong mind-body connection. It releases unwanted stress. The list is pretty extensive. All sports are great. Find one that you enjoy and stick with for life.
