How far can you shoot an m1911 pistol?

In optimal conditions, with the wind to your back, you firing the 1911 at a 45' angle, the bullet could travel a mile, or more (1.6km+).

Now, to ACCURATELY hit a man-sized target, 50 meters would be considered pretty far. With training, maybe even up to 100 meters (aiming a few cm above the target, to compensate for the bullet drop).

Most pistol ranges are set at 5, 7, 10, 15, 25 and 35 yards.
