Where was vostok 1 launched?

Vostok 1 was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on April 12, 1961. It was the first human spaceflight mission and carried Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet cosmonaut, into orbit around the Earth.
