Depending of the number of rooms the hotel has and the occupation percentage, there may be more than 50 different processes performed by the three shifts of a Front Desk. But there are several standard processes:

1. Reading the log book when arriving to the desk.

2. If the Clerk is a Cashier as well, s/he might have a fixed amount of money handed over from the previous shift. This amount must always be in balance.

3. Some hotels pre-assign rooms, cut key-cards, and print registration cards for the arriving guests. (AM Shift)

4. Determine the correct status of any "Housekeeping discrepancies".

5. Verifying the good credit of the guests.

6. Extending reservations or checking out rooms where applicable.
