Dogs need TIME more than space; if you have enough time to spend with your dog, you can have a Great Dane in a one-room studio apartment no problem.

However, ideally, a dog needs about the same amount of space as a child would need inside a house--and it's ideal to have at least a medium-sized yard or close access to green areas for the dog to run and play in.

But, again, dogs need time more than they need space.
