Why is it important to use a translation dictionary correctly?

Languages don't translate directly to English. it is important because if you use the translation dictionary incorrectly you could say something that makes no sense, or is even offensive.

I'm going to use Spanish as my example.

If i look up the verb "can" I would get the Word "lata" so I just plug that in to my sentence.

"Yo lata hacer mi tarea" you mean to say " I can do my homework" but what you are really saying is "I can ( like what soup comes it) do my homework". the real Word would be puedo.

Avoid using google translate and other translating websites, because they often make this mistake. And your teacher would know because they would translate what you are saying into different and more advanced tenses, and may quiz you on it. That would be really embarrassing so ... use a dictionary and pay attentionnn!!
