A Jingle is a short tune that is used in advertising and other commercial uses and also contains "hooks" and lyrics that promote a product that is being used thriugh the means of advertising slogans.

A jingle has no definitive status but it can be traced back to 1923 when commercial radio began in the United States. A company by the name of "General Mills" aired its commercial on Christmas Eve 1926 - a singing commercial which had the lyrics "Have you tried wheaties."
