When do cherry blossoms first appear on trees?

Cherry blossoms bloom at different times each year depending on your geographical location. In Tokyo the cherry blossom season is in early April, whereas in the subtropical islands of Okinawa they can bloom as early as January. March 15 to mid April is normally the cherry blossom season in Washington D.C.
