What lesson did Sal learn in Walk Two Moons?

Sal is compassionate and loves to exaggerate. Her experiences and memories are based on nature. She is a high spirited country girl, who is a lot like her mother. Sal is very adventurous and spends most of her time out doors, or in the car, while on her journey from Ohio to Idaho. Sal becomes stronger throughout the book, especially since what she finds out at the end the book may change her for the rest of her life.
