How does the bones examination help in criminology?

Bones can answer many many questions in a case. Some examples include, what sex the victim was based on shape of the pelvis; what type of injury was sustained, such as blunt force, stabbing. Also it may be interesting to know that you can even tell if someone was hit with an object or if they themselves struck the object just by the damage to the bone.
